A Miniature sauna

In Finland we love our saunas and of course, dollhouse dolls must have their sauna, too. This is the sauna of the Riikonen family.

I have made the panels and the benches from strips of bamboo which I have got by disassembling some bamboo placemats. I made the stove from balsa and the stove stones are tiny lava stones which we have brought as a souvenir from the volcanic Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. The "concrete" parts behind the stove are pieces of ceramic tiles which we used when we renovated our own sauna a couple of years ago. The flooring and the ceiling are printies.

Crocheted curtain - Virkattu verho

A crocheted curtain for the Riikonens' grandparents' bedroom. The thread I used was not very thin; I think I used a size 1.00 mm hook. The pattern is from the book "the Harmony Guides, 300 Crochet Stitches", which is one of my favourite crochet pattern books.

Virkattu verho Riikosten isovanhempien makuuhuoneeseen. Käyttämäni lanka ei ollut ihan ohutta; muistaakseni virkkasin 1.00 mm:n koukulla. Malli on kirjasta "the Harmony Guides, 300 Crochet Stitches", joka on yksi suosikki virkkausmallikirjoistani.

I have recently crocheted the curtain and the rug. I have also made the sofa, the table and the fireplace. The fireplace is made from styrofoam. The extraordinary liquour cabinet is a bargain I found at a flea market.

Olen äskettäin virkannut verhon ja maton. Sohva, pöytä ja takka ovat myös omatekoisia. Takka on tehty styroksista. Erikoisen baarikaapin olen löytänyt kirpputorilta.
