Miniature pastries - Pasteles en miniatura

It's been a while since I have posted! At the end of the summer I bought some new supplies, for instance Deluxe Materials Scenic Water and Scenic Colours, but I have not tried them yet, because, to tell you the truth, I forgot about them soon after I had bought them! And then, the other day as I was going through the disorganized mess of things on my craft table, I came across these two packages and I was "Oops! What do I have here!?" Well, I think that many crafters have a lot of supplies they are not aware of, don't they?

  Anyway, I have been doing some miniature baking.  Here are some cakes, pastries and sandwiches. They are all made from air dry silk clay. As I have mentioned before, I love working with this soft air dry clay. It is very good for making miniature food.

Miniature food from silk clay - Comida en miniatura con silk clay

I just love this new silk clay stuff! It feels quite sticky af first, but when you work it in your hands, it becomes dryer and more comfortable to handle. As it is light and soft, it is easy to cut it also when it has dried. Here are some toasts, slices of sausage and cheese, butter and eggs.

And here is a cake, some pastries and chocolate chip and peanut bisquits. I made more bisquits than those eight on the plate. I wonder what has happened to the rest - maybe Elsa the cat has been having some fun with them!

Miniature mortar from stone clay - Mortero en miniatura

I have been trying different kinds of clays. This mortar and pestle are made from air dry stone clay. I like the result very much, but I found working with the clay a a bit difficult as it was so... sandy!

These rustic terracotta dishes are made from basic air dry Fimo.

And here is a tray and plates which I decorated with water slide decals  which I recently made. 

I have also been making some miniatures from silk clay and foam clay. I will post pictures of them soon!

Miniature flower stand - Soporte de flores

I discovered the air-dry polymer clay quite recently and these flower pots are one of the first things which I made from it. I really like it because if you use molds, you can just leave the items to dry in the molds overnight. 

I made the flowers from silk paper and the green leaves from papercord. When you open papercord, you get nice variegated paper strips.

The legs of the stand are made from ornate toothpicks.

Kitchen sink from polymer clay - Tiskiallas polymeerimassasta

I needed a new sink for the kitchen in Erlenhof and I made it from polymer clay. I know that it looks quite bumpy, but it was a lot more bumpy before I sanded it! (Fortunately you are able to sand Fimo after baking it.) In the other picture you can see the sink in the kitchen, which is still very unfnished.

Tarvitsin Erlenhofin keittiöön uuden tiskialtaan ja tein sen polymeerimassasta. Tiedän että se näyttää aika muhkuraiselta, mutta se oli vieläkin muhkuraisempi ennen kuin hioin sen! (Onneksi Fimoa pystyy hiomaan paistamisen jälkeen.) Toisessa kuvassa näet altaan keittiössä, joka on vielä hyvin keskeneräinen.

Clay food - Massaruokia

I have some time tried making miniature food from polymer clay and it has not gone very well. I came to the conclusion that clay is not my material. But I am happy that I decided to give it another try! I started with making the cakes - they were easy enough. I had just bought some copper moulds for the dollhouse kitchen and I noticed that they can really be used as moulds for making miniature cakes. And then I tried making some other things, too. I made these things from Cernit clay, but I have now also bought some Fimo Soft and I look forward to having some time for experimenting with it.

Olen joskus kokeillut tehdä miniruokaa polymeerimassasta ja se ei ole mennyt oikein hyvin. Tulin siihen tulokseen että massa ei ole minun materiaalini. Mutta onneksi päätin vielä yrittää! Tein aluksi kakkuja - ne olivat tarpeeksi helppoja. Olin juuri ostanut nukkekodin keittiöön kuparisia muotteja ja huomasin että nehän käyvät oikeasti muoteiksi minikakkujen tekoon. Ja sitten kokeilin tehdä vähän muutakin. Nämä on tehty Cernit-massasta, mutta olen nyt ostanut myös Fimo Softia ja käyn sen kimppuun kunhan ehdin.

Little Fitzwilliam - Pikku Fitzwilliam

This is little Fitzwilliam. I made him from flesh colour Cernit polymer clay. The hair is mohair. (Are you wondering where I got the name Fitzwilliam from? It is from Mr Darcy himself! We have been watching the glorious BBC tv series "Pride and Prejudice" during the holidays.)

Tämä on pikku Fitzwilliam. Tein hänet ihonvärisestä Cernit-polymeerimassasta. Hiukset ovat mohairia. (Ihmetteletkö mistä nimi Fitzwilliam on peräisin? Se on itseltään herra Darcyltä! Olemme katselleet pyhien aikana BBC:n ihanaa tv-sarjaa "Ylpeys ja ennakkoluulo".)
