Crocheted dress and blanket for baby doll

She is my 1:12 scale Heidi Ott miniature doll. I crocheted her a new dress, bonnet and a blanket.

Hubby and I spent a nice few days in Dublin, Ireland. (We had a good craic! :-D ) We visited the Doll Store, which is also home to the Dolls Hospital, located in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre on South William Street.

It is a quaint shop with a large range of dolls and bears, too, but I concentrated on the dolls house miniatures. I bought a Dolls House Emporium stove and some Vanity Fair glassware and a toast rack. These Vanity Fair products are new to me, or at least I do not remember seeing them before.

The best Easter surprise! - La mejor sorpresa de Pascua!

I got the best surprise this Easter! My friend Pirkko brought me a mysterious old shoe box and when I opened it, I could hardly believe my eyes! The box was full of old dolls and dollshouse furniture which Pirkko used to play with in the 1960's. They are just the kind of vintage furniture which I have been looking for in the flea markets to put into my Lisa dollshouse.

This red wooden kitchen table set is adorable!

Another wooden table set. It is very well made. It looks like solid mahogany.

The two lamps were real working lamps when Pirkko had them in her dollshouse. I have not had the time to try them yet.

This red plastic sofa set is made by Combex, England.

All the dolls have moving eyes. I especially like the little girl in the middle.

The rubber bands holding these dolls together have crumbled apart in the course of time. The dolls now need some tender loving care!

Crocheted shawl - Virkattu huivi

I crocheted a shawl using one of the patterns in the Grandmother's Lace crochet pattern book which I recently bought. Here one of my miniature fashion dolls (which is about the size of a 1/12 dollshouse doll) is wearing the shawl.
Virkkasin hartiahuivin yhden mallin mukaan, joka on äskettäin ostamassani Isoäidin pitsejä -virkkausohjekirjassa. Tässä huivi on yhdellä miniatyyrimuotinukeistani (nukke on suurinpiirtein samaa kokoa kuin 1/12 nukkekotinuket).

Wigging and clothing a porcelain doll - Posliininuken hiukset ja vaatteet

I assembled this porcelain doll a long time ago. As it so often happens, I forgot him for a long while, until I now decided that it was time for him to get wigged and clothed. I used viscose doll hair for his wig. It was the first time that I have made such a long doll hair. I was too unpatient for looking for any instructions, and so I just started to glue bunches of hair to his head, starting from the neck and proceeding to the top of the head. I think it turned out ok. Besides, as you can see, he is not a snob gentleman, but a relaxed hobo type, and that is why his hair does not have to be that groomed either!

New Heidi Ott doll - Uusi Heidi Ott nukke

 My lovely daughter gave me this beautiful Heidi Ott lady doll. I crocheted her a dress, a hat and a bag.

Ihana tyttäreni antoi minulle tämän kauniin Heidi Ott nuken. Virkkasin nukelle mekon, hatun ja pussukan.

I crocheted this dress for the old Ari baby doll which a friend gave to me. I have a few Ari dolls and I think that I have not introduced all of them in my blog yet.

 I got these cute rubber babies from my friend Irmeli. She found them in Askartelukulma in Kuopio.

Sain nämä söpöt kumiset vauvat ystävältäni Irmeliltä. Hän löysi ne Kuopion Askartelukulmasta.

 

And my husband found this grill in a flea market. It is as new, as it was still in its original package. There was the product name Comodo in the label, and on the internet I found out that nowasays it is a product of Krath & Co from Denmark.
Ja mieheni löysti tämän grillin kirpputorilta. Se on uudenveroinen, sillä se oli yhä alkuperäisessä pakkauksessaan. Pakkauksessa oli merkki Comodo, ja netistä sain selville, että se on nykyään tanskalaisen Krath & Co:n tuotteita.

Ari doll family - Ari-nukkeperhe

 
When my friend and I were shopping in Helsinki in December, we visited the Askarelli crafts supplies shop, and we found these treasures there: Ari doll families in their original boxes. There were two different kinds of sets and I chose these dolls wearing their festive dresses. I love the dolls, and I find the package very charming, as it is so retro. In the package there are texts "Puppen fûr das Puppenhaus", "Poppen voor het poppenhuis", "Poupees pour la maison de poupée" and "Dolls for the dolls house", and the label "Königseer puppen". There is also a stamped text "Hergestellt In der DDR" ("manufactured in German Democratic Republic"). I think that I will keep the dolls in the box for the time being.

Kun olin ystäväni kanssa Helsingissä shoppailemassa joulukuussa, kävimme Askarelli -askartelutarvikekaupssa, ja löysimme sieltä nämä aarteet: Ari-nukkeperheet alkuperäisissä laatikoissaan. Settejä oli kahdenlaisia ja minä valitsin nämä nuket juhlavissa asuissaan. Nuket ovat ihania, ja niin on pakkauskin vanhanaikaisuudessaan. Pakkauksessa on tekstit "Puppen fûr das Puppenhaus", ""Poppen voor het poppenhuis", "Poupees pour la maison de poupée" ja "Dolls for the dolls house", sekä merkki "Königseer puppen". Assembling a doll - Nuken kasaamista

 

I assembled this Wilfred doll kit, which I have bought from Tower House Dolls. I used pipe cleaners and felt fabric for making the body. The funny thing was that I had watched " Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" (the Kenneth Branagh version) on tv the previous day, and when I was sewing my doll together, I could not help thinking about Victor Frankenstein piecing his frightening creature. But luckily my doll did not turn out to be a monster! ;-)

Kokosin tämän Wilfred-nukkekitin, jonka olin ostanut Tower House Dolls -kaupasta. Käytin vartalon tekemiseen piippurasseja ja huopakangasta. Oli hassua, että olin katsonut tv:stä " Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" -elokuvan (Kenneth Branaghin version) edellisenä päivänä, ja nukkea kokoon ommellessani en voinut olla ajattelematta Victor Frankensteinia kasaamassa pelottavaa oliotaan. Mutta onneksi nukestani ei tullut hirviötä! ;-)

Doll and bear fair - Nukke- ja nallemarkkinat

My friend and I visited the Doll and bear fair in Helsinki today. The fair was organized by Finland's doll association and Finland's dollhouse association. We enjoyed ouselves very much; I think that it was our nicest fair trip so far. We went to the fair a bit later in the afternoon, when there was not so much crowd anymore,
and we had a lot of space for looking around. We both made some good bargains.
I bought the hearth for the Witch's house.
I do not know what material it is made from, but it is quite heavy.
Kävin tänään ystäväni kanssa Helsingissä Nukke- ja nallemarkkinoilla. Markkinat järjesti Suomen nukkeyhdistys ja Suomen nukkekotiyhdistys. Meillä oli todella mukavaa; tämä oli varmaan tähin astisista kivoin markkinamatkamme. Menimme markkinoille vähän myöhemmin iltapäivällä, jolloin siellä ei ollut enää kovin paljon ruuhkaa, ja meillä oli hyvin tilaa katsella. Teimme molemmat hyviä löytöjä.
Minä ostin noidan taloon takan. En tiedä mitä materiaalia se on, mutta se on melkoisen painava.

Twin babies and an old Lundby doll. The babies are rubber babies similar to the Ari dolls, but I think that they are not Ari, at least I did not find any mark on them.

Kaksosvauvat ja vanha Lundby-nukke. Vauvanuket ovat samanlaisia kumisia nukkeja kuin Ari-nuket, mutta luulen että ne eivät ole Aria, ainakaan en löytänyt niistä mitään merkkiä.

I crocheted her this dress from Venne Colcoton 34/2 cotton thread.

Lundby Christmas - Lundby-joulu

I had Christmas at work today! My colleague brought me a bagful of lovely old Lundby stuff, which he had found when he was cleaning the storage room of his family. They are just the kind of things which I have been looking for, as I recently decided to start to decorate my 1:16 scale Lisa dollhouse with vintage furniture!

Minulla oli tänään joulu töissä! Kollegani toi minulle pussillisen ihania vanhoja Lundby-tavaroita, jotka hän löysi siivotessaan perheensä varastoa. Nämä ovat juuri sellaisia tavaroita, joita olen yrittänyt löytää, sillä päätin äskettäin ruveta kalustamaan 1:16 mittakaavan Lisa-nukketaloani vanhoilla huonekaluilla!

I haven't had an Ari doll this small before. She is only about 5,8 cm tall.

Minulla ei ole aikaisemmin ollut näin pientä Ari-nukkea. Se on vain noin 5,8 senttiä pitkä.

I made her from a Mrs Claus doll kit which I bought from MiniKitz,and I crochted the clothes.  Minikitz is one of my favourite online shops for buying miniature supplies.

Ari doll and other treasures - Ari-nukke ja muita aarteita

A friend gave me a nice surprise the other day. She brought me these things from her childhood, which she found when she was going through some stuff in the attic of her parents' home. They are so cute! Most of the things are for fashion dolls, but some of them can be used for 1:12 dolls, too. And I love the doll. It is a German Ari doll, and it is special. It is not soft rubber like the other Ari dolls which I have, but hard plastic.

Ystävä antoi kivan yllätyksen pari päivää sitten. Hän toi minulle nämä omasta lapsuudestaan peräisin olevat tavarat, jotka hän löysi käydessään läpi kotitalonsa ullakkoa. Ne ovat söpöjä! Suurin osa on muotinukkien tarvikkeita, mutta jotkut käyvät myös 1:12 nukeille. Ja nukke on ihana. Se on saksalainen Ari-nukke, ja erikoinen sellainen. Se ei ole pehmeää kumia, niin kuin muut Ari-nukkeni, vaan kovaa muovia.

Another little guy - Toinen pikku-ukko

He is Unto, the baby of the Riikonen family. He is a rubber doll which I have bought from Minimaailma. He looks a bit like the German Bully Babies, but I am not sure if he is one. I just crocheted him a new outfit and he is sitting in his babysitter which I made a long time ago.

Tämä on Unto, Riikosen perheen vauva. Hän on kuminen nukke jonka olen ostanut Minimaailmasta. Hän näyttää vähän saksalaiselta Bully Babies -nukelta, mutta en tiedä onko hän sellainen. Olen juuri virkannut hänelle uuden puvun ja hän istuu sitterissään, jonka olen tehnyt aikoja sitten.

Little Fitzwilliam - Pikku Fitzwilliam

This is little Fitzwilliam. I made him from flesh colour Cernit polymer clay. The hair is mohair. (Are you wondering where I got the name Fitzwilliam from? It is from Mr Darcy himself! We have been watching the glorious BBC tv series "Pride and Prejudice" during the holidays.)

Tämä on pikku Fitzwilliam. Tein hänet ihonvärisestä Cernit-polymeerimassasta. Hiukset ovat mohairia. (Ihmetteletkö mistä nimi Fitzwilliam on peräisin? Se on itseltään herra Darcyltä! Olemme katselleet pyhien aikana BBC:n ihanaa tv-sarjaa "Ylpeys ja ennakkoluulo".)
